Liar Liar (3)

This is getting too much for me.

Tuesday, 17 November 2009

I'm checking out reports; digging up the dirt,
You get to meet all sorts in this line of work,
Treachery and treason - there's always an excuse for it
And when I find the reason, I just can't get used to it,
And what have you got, at the end of the day?
What have you got to take away?
A bottle of whiskey and a new set of lies;
Blinds on the window, and pain behind your eyes.

The hand that feeds

Paul Clarke, 27, was found guilty of possessing a firearm at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday – after finding the gun and handing it personally to police officers on March 20 this year.

Mr. Clarke not only did what many citizens would consider their duty to do (or at least, an important deed), he did a personal favour to the state and those who "protect" it.

That's a possible 5 years (minimum) in jail in return. Thank you very much.

While Clarke may not have done the technically correct thing (presumably summon the cops to his home), he wasn't the perpetrator of any crime, he did no damage to any person or property, he did nothing wrong.

If people are fucked with to this level by the state for doing good things, doing their duties, and generally helping other innocent people, will it be any wonder if it seems like being an asshole is the only encouraged behaviour?

Our shitty authority needs a wipe.

Shower of shite

Gordon Brown has said that British troops cannot stay in Afghanistan forever and will “start coming home” as soon as Afghan forces can secure the country.

We've been told this for...how many years now?

Britain has more than 9,000 troops in Afghanistan and has taken 232 casualties since 2001. Mr Brown insisted that he has a strategy for withdrawing them, but gave no timetable.

Not good enough, you bumbling arsehole.

“You cannot be an occupying army forever,” Mr Brown said in a BBC Radio Four interview. “Our strategy will be Afghan control of their own affairs. That will take some time but then British troops will start coming home.”

Great fucking job you've done so far.

He said: “This is a job that is about the security of the United Kingdom.”

Ha. Hahaha.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

You prick.

Pish

Fresh allegations of abuse by the UK military in Iraq do not warrant a new public inquiry, the Armed Forces Minister Bill Rammell has said.

Broken

Something is horribly wrong with this nation's justice system when a man can face jail for attacking someone holding his family at knife-point, yet a clearly dangerous child rapist can walk free to terrorise again, just for being forgiven by the victim's family.

There are people losing large portions of their lives to prison sentences for carrying small amounts of drugs for personal use, and this rapist was given community service?

I think our lawmakers and lawkeepers need to take a good look at their priorities, because this will happen again otherwise.

Don't advise - agree

I'm pretty stoned regarding drug advisor Professor Nutt's sacking firing.

It really gives credit to the pure, uncut idiocy of our government: fire an advisor for advising you. Are they high on something? Do they not realise that anyone who hires an advisor and then expects him or her to agree with and praise everything is on the rocky road to looking like either an idiot or an arsehole, or both.

Well some wheels are in motion:

Three more scientists have resigned from the UK drug advisory body after the home secretary sacked of its chief advisor, Professor David Nutt, for disagreeing with government policy on marijuana.

While it's good to see people make a stand, and while it may put some very temporary pressure on the government, it is more than a bit of a pain when the only people who might do a good job quit over something like this - only to leave behind (and be replaced with) people who will serve the current government regardless of adequacy or morals.

This institution is rotten at the core, and sometimes it's easy to see why.
